Well-filled backpack
Over the past 35 years, Huib held various job positions at Euramax. He flew around the world as a Technical Advisor, and as Project Leader he saw Euramax’s coated aluminium go up on the roof of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi. His career has brought him a wealth of experience, expertise, and contacts. “Because I have such a well-filled backpack, I can oversee and see through anything.” Meanwhile, Huib has been based at Euramax’s Roermond office for some time now. As Customer Support Manager, together with his team he supervises the entire order process, from quotation preparation and customer advice to delivery and aftercare. What gives him the most energy? “Coming up with solutions from a helicopter view that allow agreements to be met. Then if I receive an e-mail with ‘Super, gut gemacht, vielen Dank!’, that’s what I do it for.”
Looking for the connection in Spanish or Limburg dialect
Because of Euramax’s international client portfolio, Huib often had to switch to a different language. “I have team members who speak Spanish, Italian, German, and English. “I speak ‘only three languages. And the Limburg dialect of course!’ Huib says laughing. Huib encourages his team to use their language skills to seek personal contact and to bond with customers. ‘Experience tells us that things go smoother and that you can keep issues to a minimum when there’s personal contact.” That is why it is important, he says, especially when contacting customers, to create the space to get to know each other better. “This can be done simply by asking how the other person’s doing.”
‘We’re all involved, as it if were our own business’
Huib is On Your Side
Huib lives Euramax’s On Your Side mindset. Naturally, he’s on the side of the customers, but also on the side of his team members and colleagues from other departments. “If things get busy at another department, I jump in from time to time. Those things aren’t necessarily part of my own job, but they do make sure we can stay in the flow.”
Huib pulls together with his colleagues to ensure both continuity and innovation. “When requests for new products come from the management, we all recognise their importance. Then we do our utmost to making those requests a success.” That commitment is also evident in Huib’s description of the typical Euramax mentality: “We’re all involved, as if it were our own business.” And Huib is far from finished running that business: “I dread to think of ever having to retire.
