On your side in as many ways as possible
On a bright autumn day, John proudly comes driving up in his motorhome. From Oosterhout in Brabant, he travelled to the even more southward located Roermond. Even from a distance, the vehicle gleams as it approaches Harmen Kruijt. Harmen is the CEO of Euramax and after John contacted him with questions about the coating of his aluminium exterior walls that had some damage, Harmen invited him over. How this damage came about is not exactly clear, but the fact that it needed to be solved, is a given for Harmen. ‘At Euramax, we are on your side. That means we’re on the side of our customers in as many ways as possible. And in this case, we’re also on the side of our customer’s customers.’
Highly-trained expert eyes
Skilfully John parks his not exactly small motorhome on the Euramax parking lot. He’s a car mechanic by trade and nowadays he works as a vehicle inspector in the army. Thus his motorhome is also expected by his highly-trained expert eyes. One day he noticed some deviations in the coating of his motorhome’s exterior walls. ‘At first I paid little attention to it’, the camping enthusiast says. ‘At some point however, I decided to take action, because I didn’t want it to unnecessarily damage the walls.’
Euramax on the radar
When aluminium side walls from a leading motorhome brand are involved, chances are that the coated aluminium comes from Euramax. Few people know this and at first, John had no idea of this either. After asking around a bit, he was told that the side walls came from Euramax, so John thought: ‘Hey, that’s where I need to be!’ And that’s why he’s standing here now. Although this is a rare exception, Harmen explains: ‘In this case we’re happy to help John with a solution, but normally we don’t have contact with the customers of our customers.’
‘An aluminium motorhome is safe and just looks good’
Beautiful inside and out
Herman gives John a tour of the Euramax premises. Surrounded by huge rolls of aluminium he’s fascinated by the production process. ‘I found out that the rolls of aluminium are coated here and then cut out at the manufacturer. He loves the fact that Euramax is solving the damage to the exterior walls of his motorhome. ‘I almost fell off my chair when Harmen said they were going to fix it for me.’ Harmen gets straight to the point: ‘We stand behind our product.’ With the purchase of their motorhome, John and his wife knew it was made of aluminium, but that wasn’t the deciding factor. ‘The round lounging area inside was the most important thing for us,’ he says. Still, as an experienced camping enthusiast he sees the benefits of aluminium. ‘When there’s a thunderstorm, it can be dangerous to sit inside a plastic motorhome. Aluminium conducts, so it has the same effect as if you’re inside a car. It’s also more fireproof and it just looks really good. Thanks to their UV resistance the exterior walls hardly discolor, this is important to me because I want to use my camper for years to come.’ But it is not just the functionality that matters to John: ‘I enjoy camping in nature so I like to take care of the environment when I can. Aluminium is a very sustainable material because it can be recycled over and over again. I learned today that my sidewalls are also partly made out of recycled metal. I think that in the meantime I can rightfully call myself an aluminium ambassador.’
Southward bound
Once the motorhome of John and his wife hits the road again, almost immediately there’s a great trip on the planning. Where to? ‘Definitely heading south,’ John beams. ‘What I love about camping is the freedom. Wherever we go, we have our home on wheels with us.’ For John, the journey in his motorhome is just as enjoyable as the holiday itself. ‘And with the incredibly generous help from Euramax, I’ll be driving through Europe with extra pride,’ he says with a warm smile. After an extensive tour of the Euramax production lines and a hearty lunch, John travels back to Oosterhout, in good spirits and already looking forward to all the adventures he and his wife will experience with their motorhome.
